Pine Tree Books family

About us

Ogden grew up in Berkeley, California; Peggy in Washington, D.C. and Cambridge, Massachusetts. We met in Alaska, where we lived for 10 years. Ogden worked full time as a teacher in Anchorage, Alaska and Cape Elizabeth, Maine from 1985-2008.

We have been selling fine, antiquarian and out of print books since 2001. In the fall of 2008, Ogden left school teaching to devote himself full time to the bookselling business. We have two children, one in the working world and the other in college.

We are members of the Maine Antiquarian Booksellers Association, The Baxter Society (Maine’s bibliographic society), and attended the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar in 2006.

We love the book selling business….the ideas, the people, the history, and even the materials – the paper, leather and cloth.

About Pine Tree Books   Pine Tree Books Services

Thank you for making the necessary but personally agonizing experience of disposing of my book collection bearable. Where other dealers seemed calculatedly indifferent to its worth, you made me feel proud of the results of 50 years of accumulating books not so much for their market value but because they appealed to me. Parting with them was difficult but your caring attitude alleviated much of the pain. I'm most grateful."

Ogden and Peggy Williams handled the marketing and selling of our family book collection of approximately 4,000 books. While an ongoing process they were fast and efficient and demonstrated a knowledge as well as a love of books. They were great as a team and are just lovely people in general. Ogden and Peggy were fair and honest and we felt we got good value for our collection.
